The land of Arnoia comprises, in addition to the valley area —where the vineyard and vegetable crops are worked— a high zone, of rocky orography and practically unpopulated. It is forest land, representing a little more than half of the municipal area, where pine advances over the broadleaf trees. Across the “strong slopes enamelled with vineyards” (Otero Pedrayo), the people of Arnoia gaze upon the profile of Coto Novelle, the highest peak in the municipality, at 714 metres.

Among the natural spaces listed in the Complementary and Subsidiary Planning Rules drawn up by COTOP (Xunta de Galicia), the banks of the Miño appear as catalogued; the delimitation of the area presents a zone of human influence, with the terracing of vineyard and vegetable gardens. Its main interest is scenic.

Also to be taken into consideration is the canyon of the river Arnoia, which gives rise to spots such as A Peneda, a woodland abounding in cork oaks, with an old abandoned village, the restored electricity works, and the waters of the Arnoia which “the rugged terrain continually forces to slip between the rocks that break them into a thousand foams”, and the authors of “Ourense Natural” go on to tell us: “Few places like this in the whole province of Ourense afford, in summer, such pleasant and delightful sensations”.

Continuing downstream we find Silvaescura, which don Ramón finds similar in name and beauty to the German Schwarzswald. Further down, the Inquiau, where a recreational area is being built in the middle of the river as it splits into small branches, recovering the ten mills, in reference to their millstones. After passing the medieval bridge and more mills we reach the recreational area of As Poldras and then the river mouth, forming two small granite islets, Os Castelos.

The numerous recreational areas, aptly integrated into the landscape without stridency, help to enhance the tourist offer. The municipality has the following areas:

· A Ínsua (Inquiau).
· As Poldras.
· A Queixeira.
· A Reza.

The privileged setting, the vegetation, the climate, the thermal waters and the fluvial characteristics are natural conditions aptly harnessed and carefully tended, making possible a rich and novel tourist offer in the municipality.
