Routes around A Arnoia

A Arnoia offers two circular routes —the Rivers Route and the Mountains Route— which start and end at the Vila Termal, the natural base camp for hiking in the municipality. In addition, the Camiño Miñoto-Ribeiro runs through the municipal area, and it does so with a particularity: A Arnoia is the point where the Camiño splits into two paths.

Rivers Route

Circular · ~15 km · medium-high difficulty

Starts and ends at the Vila Termal. It runs through the low-lying villages of the municipality: Chaos, As Poldras, Lapela, Remuíño, Ponte, Carnós, San Roque and Outeiro Cruz. It has six detours to shorten it; the Chaos detour (4 km, low) is the most accessible, ideal for families.

Mountains Route

Circular · ~13 km · high difficulty

The demanding route: it climbs to the high part of the municipality up to Coto Novelle, the highest peak in A Arnoia, passing through San Miguel and Coto da Fame. From the summit, views over the Ribeiro, the Castrelo de Miño reservoir and the Suído mountain range.

Camiño Miñoto-Ribeiro

Camiño de Santiago · A Arnoia, branching point

One of the historic inland routes between northern Portugal and Santiago. It arrives from Cortegada via Meréns and Lapela and, in A Arnoia, splits into two paths. The Arnoia–Ribadavia section is 5,5 km of low difficulty.
